A delightful family-friendly adventure designed for little explorers and nature-loving parents. This seven-day journey brings you face to face with Sri Lanka’s iconic Big Five which include elephants, leopards, sloth bears, whales and crocodiles. The itinerary blends wildlife encounters with gentle cultural experiences and plenty of beach time. Every activity is planned to keep children engaged, curious and excited, with relaxed pacing and a balanced mix of discovery and downtime.

Day 01: Welcome to Negombo and Beachside Relaxation

Your family is warmly greeted on arrival before you proceed to your beachside hotel only a short distance away. The afternoon offers the perfect introduction to tropical Sri Lanka. Children can splash in the pool, build sandcastles on golden shores and watch the colourful fishing boats drifting across the lagoon. As the sun sets, the first evening becomes a blend of sea breeze, smiles and simple holiday fun.

Day 02: Dambulla Cave Temple and Village Experience

Begin the day with a visit to the Dambulla Cave Temple. The ancient murals and beautifully carved Buddha statues create an inspiring cultural moment for adults and children alike. Young travellers enjoy the gentle climb and the sense of exploring a hidden world inside the caves. Later, continue to a nearby village for a charming hands-on experience. Enjoy a bullock cart ride through paddy fields, a peaceful canoe trip across a lotus filled lake and a traditional lunch served on fresh banana leaves. Your resort in the Sigiriya area offers a calm natural environment where families can unwind in the evening.

Day 03: Sigiriya Rock Fortress and Minneriya Safari

Start early for the climb to the Sigiriya Rock Fortress. Children love the giant lion paws at the entrance, the legendary frescoes and the spectacular view from the summit. In the afternoon, set out on a jeep safari in Minneriya National Park. Watch herds of elephants grazing across open fields, young calves splashing in water pools and majestic tuskers wandering freely. The day ends with a relaxing evening at your hotel and perhaps a refreshing swim.

Day 04: Scenic Journey to Yala National Park

Travel south through lush countryside as you make your way towards Yala. Your accommodation is located on the edge of the forest and offers an inviting safari atmosphere that children instantly enjoy. Open spaces, nature trails and peaceful surroundings set the tone for a restful afternoon. After dinner, relax under the night sky while listening to the quiet sounds of the wild.

Day 05: Morning Yala Safari and Beach Time in Bentota

Head out at sunrise for an exciting safari in Yala National Park, a region known for one of the highest leopard densities in the world. Keep your eyes open for sloth bears, elephants, crocodiles and many species of colourful birds. Continue your journey to Bentota for a relaxed afternoon by the ocean. The wide sandy beaches are ideal for running, swimming, playing in the waves and building sandcastles. The day closes with a gentle sea breeze and a peaceful coastal evening.

Day 06: Whale Watching and Turtle Conservation

Travel to Mirissa for a spectacular whale watching excursion which is best experienced from November to April. The ocean offers the chance to see the world’s largest animal, the blue whale, along with playful spinner dolphins. In the afternoon, visit a turtle conservation centre in Kosgoda. Children learn about sea turtle protection and depending on the season may even witness baby turtles making their first journey into the ocean. Return to Bentota for a calm evening by the beach.

Day 07: Final Beach Moments and Departure from Colombo

Enjoy a relaxed morning in Bentota before checking out. On the way to the airport, you may stop in Colombo for a brief city experience.
